September Stuff

Hey Everyone,

I love going to other blogs and seeing all the great pictures that people post. Half the time I don't even read the posts, I just like to see the pictures. I'm amazed by how fast children grow!

Since I like pictures so much, I'll share of few of my own from September with you to (hopefully) enjoy!

Preston and his friend Seth playing Cars/Trains/Trucks

Preston turned 6 on September 14th. I can't believe my baby is 6. I wish he could be 3 years old forever!
I attempted to make him an Angry Bird cake, which didn't turn out, so I did a basic Chocolate cake with Butter-cream frosting and put these Mario toys in it. It seemed to be good enough for him, but I felt like I really failed in the cake department this year.

Disappointed that he got socks. (and underwear)

But he loved his Luigi Shirt

And his Angry Birds

His Police car

His big Cat tractor

And his Garbage truck

He got to talk to his Grandparents on the phone

Preston wore a Birthday Boy ribbon and got this crown at school to wear. I also brought the whole class goodie bags with some little treats and toys. He had a great birthday! I love my little man so much!!!

Does anyone know what sort of bug this is? It was a cross between a black ant, a beetle, and a scorpion and it was easily over an inch long.

Preston doesn't like the line inside socks that goes over the toes. He says it feels weird, so for at least the last year or so he has been wearing all of his socks inside out.

Preston and I spent about 3 hours cleaning, sorting, organizing the kids' playroom. We filled up 2 garbage bags-extra full. It looks great, I'm so happy with it and the kids have been doing really good at keeping it clean.

Emily and her girls came in to town for a quick visit and stayed one night at our house. I love when these cousins get together! They always seem to have so much fun. I miss them now that they live in Seattle.

I think Preston made a best friend for life since Finley now loves Trains and cars as much as he does. They definitely bonded.

My one and only Halloween decoration. Lame, right? But living at the end of a cul-de-sac and not having any front of the house windows really restricts our decorating abilities.

First day of School
4th Grade

Kindergarten

Seth and Preston outside their classroom

At his very own desk...5 minutes before the meltdown sobbing started

After school. All smiles! YAY!!!

I took the kids to the Vancouver Sausage Festival. We all did the huge slide together and the kids rode the little kid rides together.

And they played some games and each won a prize

but when they tried the Ferris Wheel alone Preston was crying really hard by the time they got to the top so the guy let them off...but didn't refund my tickets. Lame. I guess they need either an adult with them or they need to get a couple more years on them before they try it again. I guess Oaks Park or Disneyland are out of the question for now.

September

Hey Everyone!

Nick and I decided that we would put Preston in Kindergarten at Public school. He's always been really shy around new people and he refuses to participate in activities with other kids, so we thought this would be a great way to encourage him to make friends and it would teach him about respecting other adults, not just his parents. I was afraid that, being in a class room with 27 other kids, at least a few of them would own dogs, and Preston would come home every day with allergies.

Kindergarten has been wonderful for him! He is more outgoing. He is more independent. He is making friends. He is happy and so much more loving towards me since we do have time apart each day. And he has not had any allergies at all! None! What a blessing!

His teacher is great. She's a grandma-type. She is stern, but so kind. Preston really likes her too.

After taking Preston to register, I could see that Ashleigh was struggling to decide if staying at home for school was what she really wanted to do. I gave her 24 hours to decide. The next morning she told me that she wants to go back to public school too, so back to the school we went to register Ashleigh for 4th grade.

Ashleigh started on Sept 5, and Preston started on Sept 7. Ashleigh came off the bus that first day and said, "Best day ever!" She has an amazing teacher - exactly the kind of teacher we hoped she would get. It's a perfect fit for her and she is making some friends too!!

I took Preston his first day and both he and I started crying after about 2 minutes. I had to literally pull myself away from his grasp and walk away and not look back! I walked to the library for "Tea & Tissue" where I proceeded to cry for the next 15 min on some innocent strangers' shoulder. I finally got enough courage to leave and cried all the way home.

I picked him up after school and the first thing he said to me was "Best day ever!" I couldn't believe it, but I was so grateful! He had a good day, no allergies, and made a new friend.

to be continued....

A New Blog

Hi Ya'll,

My old blog ran out of photo storage space apparently, so here it is, after 6+ years, I'm starting a new blog to document this next stage and phase of our family life. Hope you enjoy it!! :-)
